Time

A quad-tanka poem by Shazzar Kallie

Too late for today,
but early for tomorrow:
nothing can stop time
from running out or away
when it needs to be kept close.

Life is decided
by the seconds of a clock,
which rotates its hands
forward towards the future
while leaving the past behind.

Memories linger
into subjectivity.
Truth is the substance
that becomes the evidence
of divine eternity.

The ascending sun
gives rise to a brand new day
as a gift from God
to be unwrapped and opened
until the moon's departure.
